80 years in Education

The College's founder was P.J.Kilroy and, as the name of the College began to evolve around him, the College came to be known as Kilroy's College. The founder's family continued to be involved in the College and they still are, right up to the present day.

The College has grown to become a leading educator, using great experience and the latest teaching techniques to give its students the skills they need to lead successful and fulfilled lives. "Past students of Kilroy's College reads like a "Who's Who" in the Public Service today" commented a former Education minister. Over the years the College has developed a tutorial system that really works for our students and in the process has gained a reputation for excellence in distance learning, with more than 100,000 enrolments to date.

Many of our courses are now recognised internationally and as a leading member of the European Association for Distance Learning (EADL). The College is committed to improving the educational opportunities available to those who choose Distance Learning as their best study option. The quality of our courses and our course materials are matched by our commitment to our students.

We indeed pride ourselves on offering excellent and interesting courses. The college has a team of very experienced Student Advisors and we actively encourage our students to contact us if they have any queries or difficulties understanding an assignment or any part of their course. Our students tell us that this type of support and advice is not only encouraging but it also gives them great confidence and interest in completing their studies successfully.

We were very proud to have been chosen to host the 2007 EADL's international conference in Dublin. Delegates from all over Europe and beyond attended "Distance Learning in the Digital Age" at the Westbury Hotel.

Kilroy's College has helped our students to acquire new skills and in preparing for state examinations and Public Service competitions during the past 80 years. In addition, correspondence colleges in Canada, the U.K., Australia, Southern Africa, Singapore and the Philippines are now providing training courses researched and written by Irish staff course writers. At Kilroy's College our tuition is truly worldwide.

Kilroy's College is Ireland's longest established and largest distance learning college and it constantly researches and develops new courses as well as updating and revising the more established courses. The most recent additions being our Beauty Therapy, Nail Technician, Make-up Artist, Pet Grooming and ECDL courses.
